I cannot express how sorry I am that I have been MIA for a little while! I stressed IA because I promise I have been in action! I have lots to show everyone..the baby from the post below was born (and I was in the room when she arrived) along with several other babies that joined the world. A couple family sessions, and one year birthday session, a wedding, several bridal sessions (although you cannot see them yet).....so I promise, I have been in action! What a beautiful mommy and daddy! What a beautiful day....well....it was cold and it was windy, BUT it was beautiful! Jen and Toney have many wonderful things coming to them over the next year! I am so excited to be a part of it all! We all are waiting the arrival of baby "b" (which will be here sometime in the next two weeks). Next week, if she is not here yet, they will be determining when to give the baby a little nudge at making an appearance in this great big world! Jen and Toney, I will be thinking of you guys over the next couple of weeks! I am sure everything will go just wonderful! And let's not leave out Mr. p....he is going to be a wonderful big brother!

Meet Ashley and Chris. You will see them again in a few short months as they are getting married in August! Ashley and Chris grew up, live, and LOVE the city...that is where they got engaged...so that is where we decided to shoot their engagement session! You two are awesome...I cannot wait to work with you two again with your wedding! I met with Ashley and Chris on Valentines Day...we thought this would be a good way to celebrate the biggest "LOVE" day of all! And it was perfect! You can totally feel the love between these two!

Kathy and the Snow

This is a very good friend of mine, Kathy! She got snowed in with us a couple of weeks ago and I had to share a few images of her in the snow. We went out for a few minutes and had some fun. I bought the vintage sled that day and had to use it! I am so glad the warm weather is just around the corner, but HAD to share these few just quickly!

On another note, I have only been blogging once a week for the past two weeks. I hope to change that this week! I have a wedding that I second shot in, and an engagement shoot to blog about! Stay tuned!!!!

It just seems like yesterday we were taking pictures of mom and dad while you were still in mommies belly!!! And then, it seems like the day after that we were taking your newborn pictures. And now, seems as though it has only been another week or two, you are eating your first birthday cake? Where did the time go?

Meet "w". He is just so handsome, little, cute, full of sweet sweet energy that I wish I had just an ounce of ;). Mom is doing so good keeping up with him considering he is going to be a BIG BROTHER to a little sister in just a few short months (I am sure mom don't feel they are short). Those blue eyes are just far to adorable! And his smile....will MELT you! We had a snow storm the day before our session, and I was so excited to get to capture him playing in the snow. He wasn't too sure about it at first, but I think he wanted to stay and play more (as ALL kids do once they get the feel for it). Oh, and I CANNOT leave out Tinsley! SUCH a sweet doggie, but she DID NOT want to give me the time of day!!!

I met Beth at my monthly "Mommy Bunco Group", and have really enjoyed getting to meet her and other mommies in my area. Beth, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to capture your little handsome man. I cannot wait till the princess arrives to meet her as well!!!!!

Here are the Kirby's. You may remember the little one from here. We wanted to get some of the whole family then, but dad had the flu. We finally got together to get some family shots, and I could not be happier with everything! We went to little t's grandparents, and they live in just a beautiful setting with a creek and a bridge! Oh, it was so fun. Not to mention the weather was just awesome!

OK....so it is not the new year anymore (I have always wondered when the absolute latest date you can say that to someone), but I had a new years wedding. This is Wally and Bev. I have known them both for a VERY long time. Beverly's daughter, Katrina, was a very good friend of mine growing up. I always called Bev....Momma Bev. Her and Wally have known each other since they were in diapers. It blows my mind that they have waited all these years to tie the knot. I think it was their destiny to be together, and I think they wonder why it took them so long too :). Enjoy a few images from their day, or night....they kissed right at the stroke of midnight!!!

Goals....

OK...so I hardly ever just blog. And sometimes when I read other inspirational photographers blog, they sometimes just blog about this and that and everything in between...and I enjoy reading that (that sometimes can be just as inspirational). So I have decided that for the year of 2010, I will blog my own personal goals at the beginning of each month (however, I make NO promises it will be on the 1st of every month). When I first started my photography business, I had NO idea that it would have brought me this far. I did my first session with a friend of mine's little boy for his first birthday, and now he just turned 3. I have learned SO SO much since then, and I am so thankful for that. Granted, I have TONS more to learn and that may just very well be my favorite part of this. I am constantly learning new things and I know there is SO much more that it just excites me! I honestly didn't know what a manual setting on a camera was 2 years ago, much less how to use it....NOW, I am unsure I could shoot in ANYthing else! I owe everything to everyone who has giving me the opportunity to learn, and everyone who has pushed me to not stop (even though there has been several times that I have thought to myself...I can't do this). But the reality is, I CAN do this. A quote I saw not too long ago was a question. It asked, what would you do if you KNEW you would not fail? Well, I think, that everyone that has succeeded in their journeys of life have lived by this quote regardless if they had ever even heard it. I think of this question is a push button kind of like the staples "easy" button. As long as I KNOW I can do it, I WILL do it. End of story. Period. I also would like to thank all the photographers out there that are so inspirational. I am sure 100% (or more if possible) of them do not look at my blog, but I am thankful for them.

So FEBRUARY goals for me (and not all of them have anything to do with photography):

~Everyday, spend time with my family even if it is only 15 minutes to ONLY focus on them.
~Be more involved at Church.
~Blog at least once a week~even if I don't have an image to show ya.
~Look into another blog.
~Look into another image hosting company.
~Tell at least one person everyday why I am proud of them!
~Join PPNC.
~Join PPA.
~Put together some kind of contest.
~Enjoy a Valentine's dinner with my Valentine(s) :)!
~Get a pedicure from someone other than myself :/.
~Plan a summer vacation with my family.
~Brainstorm about ideas.
~Start my work out regimen again!!!!!!!!!!

One day down.....27 more to go! I am going to have a WONDERFUL month and I hope each and everyone of you do too!!!! Happy February y'all!!!!!

Marty and Katie tie the KNOT in Mexico

I will first apologize to everyone who could not make it to Marty and Katie's wedding for me taking so long to post this! (I tried a while back and could not get blogger to work). I know you have all waited for so long to see these. This is a post about a few images that I took while on our trip. Marty and Katie have a link they can email you to see them all so contact them if you are interested :)

OH MY OH MY! What fun was this wedding!?!?!? I had the opportunity to head down to The Mayan Riviera, Mexico to photograph a BEAUTIFUL couple for their wedding. We stayed at The Grand Palladium White Sands Resorts, and that is where most of the festivities of the wedding weekend took place! The awesome couple got married on November, Friday the 13th :), but nothing about this day was scary!! :) Everything was PERFECT about the wedding. It was a laid back atmosphere, and for those of you that know Marty and Katie, it fit them PERFECT! I loved EVERYTHING about it! Take a look at some of my favorite photos from the wedding day!

This was SO special! Katie had the Sr. & Jr. (symbolizing his late dad and brother) embroidered on his sleeves, and he didn't know it until right before! Very special!!! Marty was SO excited about it!

I love this little bit of advice that someone once gave me, and I like to pass it on to everyone I know getting married. Always remember to be each others biggest fans!

Tester's Christmas Session

Christmas is gone, but I had to show you just a few images from this Christmas session on the beach! Meet the Tester's. They had contacted me about a session on a Sunday afternoon. Well, my husband and I had decided to make a short but sweet trip to see a friend for the weekend, and when I contacted mom from this session to see what time we were getting together on Sunday, she told me we needed to reschedule because they were going to be at the beach! Lightbulb went off in my head, and I suggested we have a little Christmas celebration on the beach since we would both be there! I took many, and I should have blogged about this a long time ago...but since I delayed, I will just show you a few! Thanks mom and dad for letting me get together with you at the beach! It was a blast!!!!

Meet Brandon (AKA Bubba) and Nikki! Oh, and I can't leave out Bailey! Nikki and I have know each other for about 8 years (WOW girl...can you believe it has been that long???), and my husband and "Bubba" grew up together. We had nothing to do with them meeting each other though! Needless to say, these are some great friends of ours. Thank you Brandon and Nikki for letting me capture you guys for Christmas this year....and thank you for believing in me. When friends contact me to do sessions, it pushes me to continue to chase this dream I am chasing! You believe in me and that only helps me in believing in myself that this can happen for me! I had so much fun with this family! Mom and dad met at Lenoir-Rhyne and now have carried their careers there, and so we thought that would be a great place. The campus is beautiful! I had a great time with you guys and your little angel is just that...an ANGEL! Mom thought we would have a hard time getting her to warm up, and she warmed up SO fast! As you can see, she loved the camera...and the camera absolutely ADORED her!

This picture is special...she has her special doggie! I love it when people bring things to their session that means something, and she will want to remember this as an adult! Precious!

I have been itching to get with my cousin Sydney to do some shots of her and her horse. We went ahead and got some family shots while we were at it! We first went out to Valdese to McGalliard Falls, and if you have never been there, you need to check it out. I have only been there twice, and I have only been to the first part of it, and apparently there are trails and all kinds of photo ops all throught the whole park! I hope at some point I can explore more!

A Christmas Tree + a waterfall + excellent family = LOVELY SHOOTING! I could not have asked for more!

Then we headed on over to the stables to hang out with some hay and some horses! What a beautiful day, family, horse, and GIRL! Sydney is just so beautiful....on the outside, and even more on the inside!!! I love you guys very much!!! Thanks for letting me spend the afternoon with you guys! I had a blast and can't wait to do it again!!!!!!!

But it is perfectly fine, because this session dubbed as a Christmas session! She has grown so much since the spring when we did her 18 month session found HERE! I always enjoy getting together with mom and dad and their little precious girl! She is just a sweetheart to be around. Dad wasn't feeling too well though...he had a major back surgery several months back and he can barely walk still! We all hope you feel better real soon dad! Thank you both so much for letting me spend sometime with you guys! We will see you real soon!!!!!

This is Amy and Pokey...some very dear friends of my hubby and me. They are getting married next June and my hubby and I are both in the wedding! As much as I would LOVE to shoot this spectacular wedding...I also would not miss being a bridesmaid for NOTHING! We have already begun planning and it is going to be a BLAST!!!!!

On these next two images I want to explain the texture I added. I love textures on pictures and something I am going to start doing is creating my own textures when I go to shoots to use for the images from the shoot. This is a texture I got from the red wall from the barn. I used it in several images as you will see!

WOW is all I can say. Jen of J. Panache Photography and I joined together to form a team for the Susan G. Komen in the foothills. What a HUGE success and I don't think either one of us realized how big this was going to get. We raised over $5000 (our original goal was $1000), and we had 52 team memebers. We won the larges community team and we remained neck and neck with the most amount of money raised!!!! We also came VERY close to winning the t-shirt competition. I have had just some of the most AWESOME boys lately! This is Mr. "s". He is 3! We took Mr. "s" to the Johnny Wilson Farm. What a fun place for him! He loved everything about it! He is SO handsome, sweet, and listens so well! He is a tough little man though...just living up to his name! We went bowling the other night, and I just had to take my camera to get a few shots. It's random, I know....but I couldn't resist.

This is my husband, Kevin. Notice that these are two different bowls....one ball is blue, and one is yellow. Notice the pins? We nicknamed him "NINE" all night long...I think he should go into the world's records for how many consecutive bowls in a row you can hit exactly nine pins. :)

I wanted to do a post about my sweet kiddos!

This is Lily. She will be 3 in December. When we went to the beach with our friends back in July, she just enjoyed playing in the sand more than anything else. She LOVES dirt! So she was in HEAVEN sittin on the sand!
Ooh looky....we got one of her in the water :)

I took some pictures of my little ham Addison right at the end of summer..and when I saw this big tree with the most awesomest sunlight coming through...I just knew that this was a sign of the end of hot summer days!

I LOVE Addison's closed eyes on the right here. He just loves his little sister SO much. I just absolutely adore watching the two of them interact with each other. There is just nothing like it in the world to watch your two children just be so lovin towards each other. I hope this continues forever. I know if Addison has anything to do with it, they will...he just has always had the biggest heart! He already talks about how he is going to "scare" the boys away! :)

Addison turned 10 back in July....a decade. Yep....he likes saying that....and he thinks it is AWESOME that I am 3 of those.....decades.

Him doing his "thang". He impresses me. He would impress me if he wasn't my child. I am so proud of him for doing so well! It scares me, but he LOVES it, so I LOVE it too!

Little Miss "r"

This is another shoot, well some of the same shoot featuring another little girl from our friends beach trip. This is miss "r". My little Lily and her can never get enough of each other...its a good thing because they spend a lot of time together as they go to daycare together! They are just little hams together! Actually the three of them together is just a hoot! "j" has a few years on them...but they are just the best of friends!

She felt like a princess in her little tutu! She sure looked like one too!!!

So I must say, I am extremely proud of myself. My two goals for this weekend was 1. Spend some much needed time with my family, and 2. blog at least twice (was hoping for 3 post, but I am happy with 2 ;)). Meet little miss J. Amy and Pokey are some of my very best friends. We do an annual beach trip with some of our friends, and this year...I wanted us to do some photos!

We got all three girls up (another group of friends, Karen Adam and little miss "r" went as well...their session is coming up soon :)) at 6:00AM...yes, A.M., to take them out to the beach for a sunrise photoshoot. Unfortunately, this ended up being a very overcast day, but I think it was worth it. The girls just loved getting out onto the untouched beach...I loved it too!

On the morning we left, we all dressed simi alike and went out to the beach to get some group family, and friends shots.

Perfect little "P" turns 2!!

This little ham was so much fun to work with! He is a photographer's child, and I know all too well how photographers children have syndrome's....photographer's child syndrome. BUT ....he did so well. It was about 100 degrees outside this day, so he was exceptionally well! Happy 2nd Birthday "P"! Meet Jason and Ashley. These are some good friends of ours who just bought a new home, and they wanted a "just because" session so they could add some new photos on their new walls. My husband actually went with me to shoot this session so he could get a feel for what I do. I really enjoyed him working with me and I hope that he joins me more often! Thanks babe! I want to apologize to Ashley though, because Kevin LOVES to pick on her she was picked on the whole time ;)! So I am sorry Ashley! Here is just a sneak peak of what I have been working on. Little Adorable "A"...

I can even begin to express how FUN FUN FUN this session was! Little "A" is just too adorable. We first went to Triple Oaks farm on Ike Starnes Road in Granite Falls, NC to pick some strawberries. They won't have strawberries for too much longer, but they have some wonderful vegetables that will be available all summer long. You can give them a call at 828-396-1130. By the time we left, little "A" had strawberries all over her!

Then we took a stroll over to downtown Hickory.

Stephanie, thank you so much for letting me capture her! I just had the best time and I hope you guys did too!

Just a quick little post with lots of goodies!

1~ I can't believe I didn't add this photo to a post I did of baby "k". I had to share this precious, overlooked on my blog, image on this post.

2~ I have found a event planning company called Orangerie Events. She will help you find everything you need for your big or little event, and even if you are on a tight budget! Check her out! You can check out her blog linked under my blog list as well!

3~ A friend of mine who is a stay at home mommy has started back a hobby of hers....sewing....which all started when we went to a Matilda Jane party. A shoot will come very soon, when I can find the time, of my little girl in the little outfit that HsCreations has made her! Can't wait! In the meantime, here is a post of my little one in her MJ outfit!

4~ And last but most certainly not least, we have some friends who live in the sunny Florida who were here on vacation and their son "b" turned one. Here are a few shots from the big day! Happy 1st Birthday "b"!

1~ Saturday morning I am walking for babies. I cannot even begin to express my gratitude to the people who have sponsored me and helped me exceed my goal! You are amazing for helping such a wonderful cause! Here is a little special for you!...

Sneak Peak at a DC wedding

I know everyone is anxiously waiting for the images that Joy and I took at the wedding in DC almost two weeks ago! "E" was such a B-E-A-U-tiful bride, and "R" was a handsome groom! You guys make such a great team! Despite it being rainy...this was a beautiful day! We took the whole wedding party to the Jefferson Monument early before the wedding. "E" and "R" had made arrangements to meet before the wedding, but "R" didn't know when he would see her. Here is a sneak peak at the day...

Vegas 09!!!

WOW...was Vegas a blast! Joy Davis and I were out there from Sunday to Thursday. We took some great classes, attended a great trade show, met some wonderful new friends, and had a lot of fun! Here are just a few shots that I took when we went down to "old Vegas" with our new friends Jana Candler and Lisa Carpenter. Cannot wait for 2010!!!

A Miracle Baby!

Baby "K" entered the World Tuesday morning at a whopping 7lbs 6ozs. That is whopping compared to what the doctors were saying (a little over 5 lbs). He is happy and healthy! I name this blog the miracle baby, because Mommy and Daddy were told they would never have a baby! Truly an amazing story of how they were so close to giving up, and decided to get a second opinion, and the only thing the new doctor did was give them hope again. I am so happy that you guys made the decision to get a second opinion because he is so perfect! Congrats to the new mommy and daddy! What a wonderful adventure you guys finally get to experience!

Here are a few photos I took while visiting the family in the hospital! A newborn shoot will be posted very soon, but I could not help but showing you his face!

On another note, I am leaving in the morning for Vegas for a Wedding Photographer's convention with my friend Joy! I can't wait to update you all on my little adventure! See you soon!

Here is J...one of my BFF's! She is going to be a first time mommy in May! I am wondering if God is having a little humor with me right now considering I am just unsure if I want anymore children. So is he deciding to throw a bunch of beautiful pregnant woman at me to make me see how beautiful it all is, or for me to see just how uncomfortable they are? I am, for the time being, going to go with the latter, and I will just continue to picture them instead of trying to picture myself having anymore!

Anyway, we thought we would take advantage of the oh so beautiful weekend to create some oh so beautiful pictures! Thanks J for letting me take some photos of you today! Can't wait to meet the little man (and get a hold of him for some more oh so beautiful pictures)!

Love is all you need!

I was not going to post these, but Amy really wanted everyone to see for themselves how quick something can turn terribly wrong...so after she insisted, I agreed.

Amy and Ryan lost their home along with probably 97% of their belongings. It all started on a morning with a power outage, and lit candles. We ALL do it...the power goes out, you light candles so you can see. It only takes a matter of minutes. So a couple pointers that I know they would want to remind you of.

1~ Fire Extinguisher....you may have one, but do you know...really know...how to use it? If not, Click HERE to learn the P.A.S.S. instructions. Also, make sure that you have it inspected. If you have a fire extinguisher that has been sitting in the same spot for several years...chances are it may not work correctly.
2~ Even if your smoke detectors are wired into the electricity, the batteries can go dead!!!! Since Amy and Ryan's power was out, the smoke detectors did not work (or so everyone thinks because no one ever heard them) because the batteries that had been in there for quite some time...were dead! Even if they are wired into your electricity...CHANGE THE BATTERIES. Luckily, their CPI worked.

These were some flowers in the kitchen. The only thing that affected the kitchen was heat and smoke....but nothing was salvageable. The kitchen, just to put things in perspective, was on the opposite end of the house where the fire started.
This is a wine rack on the refrigerator. The wine bottle was unopened, but it was so hot in the kitchen that it shot the cork out, and you can see where the wine poured down.

This ceiling fan was in the living room. This room is also on the opposite end of the house from where the fire actually was. The heat just melted it.

This is the door to the basement. It probably was touched a little by the fire itself. The part folded down is the front of the door.

I had to throw this one in there. This is the master bathroom where it all started.
Amy is a camera collector...and this was a really cool old camera that was in the living room.

I took quite a few pictures of the inside, and I just wanted to share a few.

I do want to throw in one more thing. I am EXTREMELY proud of Amy and Ryan for their outlook on this. Amy and Ryan have both ALWAYS been wonderful people. These were just things...they are OK...everyone is OK...and they will replace the things. They have a huge amount of love in their hearts, and from a quote from Amy's sister's wedding...love is all you need...if you don't have love, you don't have anything.

The Honor of your Presense...

It is focused around weddings, but the sky is the limit! I thought I would pass the info to some of you...it seems like 2009 is going to be a big year for weddings. Check them out and pass the information along!

On another note, I have not updated in a while so I thought I would give you a quick little note. 2009 is going to be SO much fun for me. From a wedding to the cutest little INN around, to a wedding on a River Boat in DC, and possibly (fingers crossed here) a wedding in MEXICO :). The year is going to start with me taking a trip to a wedding photographers convention in Las Vegas, where I will get to meet, and work with (ok...so they will be teaching me, but that is "working with") some of the most famous wedding photographers from around the world! Can you feel my butterflies? I want to thank everyone who has pushed me to persue this passion!!!! 2009 is dedicated to all of you!

This is Jenn and I at the absolute cutest Bridal Luncheon I have ever seen! She treated us like queens all day long...as after lunch we went to get pedicures and enjoy champagne all day!

All I can say is that this was one B-E-A-Utiful bride! Jenn and Justin tied the knot on January 3rd 2009. What another great way to start out a new year. Talking about a resolution...I guess Jenn's was to change....her name! :). I did not have the opportunity to photograph their day because I was the Matron of Honor, and oh what an honor it was! Thank you so much for making me such a huge part of your day! Everything turned out beautiful! I did get the opportunity to take some Bridal Portraits of Jenn and I wanted to share a few with you!

I have had quite a few people fuss...yes flat out fuss at me because I don't put enough pictures of my son Addison on here. Well, I can explain....he is 9 and anytime I get the camera out...he says "Ugh! Mom what are you doing?". I usually have to catch him off guard or tell him...YOU ARE DOING THIS...just to get some pictures to hang around the house worth looking at! My particular 9 year old is too busy for me to actually take the time to do some pictures with him. He is busy doing what all other 9 year old boys are doing...out riding his bike, or playing video games (in which I beg him to go ride his bike or bug the neighbors). What? They bug us too! We have an unsaid agreement in our neighborhood that it is perfectly OK for your kids to come to our house, but in return, ours gets to go to your house sometimes too!

Anyway, we actually took this past year off from racing...didn't break my heart at all considering my heart probably needed a break (no pun intended) from the close heart attacks that I had. Even though they are not going as fast as they probably could...it sometimes gets scary. But here are a couple pictures that I took of him when he first started racing Motorcross. He had already been racing a harescramble series for 3 years once we started here, but here was a little more intense than what we were used to. These were on his KTM 50.

These are from last year...just some random shots of him being all handsome!

And he was on a bigger bike as well. He moved up to the Kawasaki 65. And he loves Chad Reed so he uses his #22~Addison also likes to golf. So here are some photos of him I took on the driving range one afternoon!

So there you have it. There is my big apple doing some of his favorite things! I did get some great shots for Christmas of him that I will be posting in a couple of days!

Meshing the Arts

I have mentioned before that I got into photography taking pictures of my son doing what he loves the most...racing motorcycles (which I just realized I have never posted any of those pictures...eek!). I did this shoot with a musician, and I cannot explain how much I enjoyed it because I was taking his art, and making it part of my art. It just made me remember that I love shooting someone who is so involved in their passion. Photography is my passion and when I can combine the two...it makes for a great shoot!

Kevin and I just got back from a trip to the Dominican Republic with a group of ten people. What a fun trip we had. We went four wheeling through a few little towns, and it really opened my eyes to how spoiled we are here in our country. They have nothing compared to what we do, but yet they are probably a lot happier than we are...

Another creative thinkin' day!

First of all, I have a model for what I want to do from yesterdays post. Please check back in a couple of weeks for a session of "Trash the Dress"!!! If you like it, maybe you will want to do it????

Secondly, I have another idea. I have recently been feeling like I don't do enough for my community when there are plenty of things to do to help out! Maybe I don't feel like I have time because I work a full time job along with doing my photography on the side. So taking on an extracurricular activity at this point would just be mean to my family. So I thought of a little way to help out not just in my community, but around the world through my photography. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I have been struggling through the past couple weeks because my moms best friend, whom also is one of my best friends mom, has been fighting Cancer for 7 years. Unfortunately, there is just no cure for her circumstances. Also, I have an Aunt that is a survivor of Cancer after a very long battle. So, I have decided for the month of October, anyone who books and pays to have a session done in this month, 15% of all proceeds will be donated to American Cancer Society in YOUR name in hopes that one day we will have a cure, and we will all be able to proudly say...."We helped!"

I have a fabulous idea....

I need a model, and a wedding dress that would never need to be worn again. If you have a wedding dress that you don't really care to keep, because honestly, who EVER wears their wedding dress again? My mom kept her wedding dress from her wedding in hopes that her daughter would wear it one day. When I got married, I would not have caught myself DEAD in that dress (sorry mom, but you already know the truth)....it will be the same way 20 years from now when our daughters are getting married...so be realistic girls! Free session for the first person interested only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
